The objective of the Second Phase of West Africa Unique Identification for Regional Integration and Inclusion (WURI) Project for Benin, Burkina Faso, Togo and Niger is to increase the number of persons in participating countries who have government-recognized proof of unique identity that facilitates access to services. The Project has three components. 1. Strengthening the Legal and Institutional Framework component will identify and address gaps in the legal and institutional frameworks and finance the preparation, development and implementation of the legal and institutional elements needed to underpin robust Foundational Identification (fID) systems. 2. Establishing robust and inclusive fID systems component will finance the design, development and implementation of the fID system, which will create UNIs linked to biometric data collected in accordance with international standards. 3. Facilitating access to services through fID credentials component will focus on service delivery at both the national and regional levels.
Development Objective Increase the number of persons in the Togolese Republic, Republic of Benin, Burkina Faso and Republic of Niger, who have government- recognized proof of unique identity that facilitates their access to services.
